Ian spoke to People Management about the case of Miss Tatjana Pogiene v Debach Enterprises Limited. Miss Pogiene was ordered to pay her former employer £21,000 after pursuing a case that was "doomed to fail from the outset."
She had been seeking £50,000 compensation from her employer after being dismissed because of unreliable data. The company had reinstated her and paid her backpay for the period she was unemployed.
Costs orders are rare, but the court will use them when necessary.
