Ian completes the Peak District Challenge for Edward's Trust
Posted on 12th July 2022
It turned out to be a scorching hot weekend, with the sun beating all day and temperatures of around 25 degrees. Ian set off from base camp at Bakewell at 8am, alongside a team from Dains accountants.
It was a tough challenge, including 1,887 metres of elevation and hours of walking in the dark through the night. There was one point during the night where he thought about stopping, but powered on motivated by the great work that Edward's Trust does and the comraderie of other participants he met along the way.
After watching the sun rise over the Peak District, Ian crossed the finish line at 7.43am on Sunday morning. His incredible time of 23 hours and 45 minutes put him as the 130th fastest finisher (and 89th fastest man) out of the 1322 people taking part.
After a good rest on Sunday and Monday, Ian was back at work on Tuesday planning his next big challenge (and trying to rope in the rest of the team!)
Ian has beaten his fundraising target, raising £635 (so far) for Edward's Trust. There's still time to sponsor him here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ianjones100km
