The Business Improvement District provides the opportunity for local businesses to support initiatives that shape the area, helping all businesses to thrive.
Funded by local businesses, the BID provides services that add value above and beyond council services. These fall largely into the areas of streetscape (maintaining and improving the appearance of the area), events and marketing, business support, and safety and security. Services have included Christmas lights, a local market, planters and networking events. Ultimately, the BID aims to make Harborne a great place to work, shop and do business.
Spencer Shaw Solicitors Limited moved to Harborne in 2021 and has built strong connections to the local community - especially Queen Alexandra Charity. After attending networking events regularly, Laura was approached about joining the board to improve representation of professional service businesses.
Laura says "I'm excited for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the amazing business community in Harborne. While the High Street is the heart of Harborne, there's a whole range of industries, so I will try my best to represent service businesses and their needs."
