Two academics are bringing a tribunal claim against the University and College Union (UCU) after it took part in protests against their documentary.
The union criticised the film, Adult Human Female, as a “clear attack on trans people’s identities” which violated the union's respect policy. A local branch of the UCU joined protests which blocked entrance to venues showing the film, causing the screenings to be cancelled.

The academics, who were members of the union, claim they have been treated detrimentally due to their philosophical beliefs.

Ian is quoted in Times Higher Education about the validity of such a claim.
