Andrea recognised for her commitment to volunteering

Andrea has received the ELIPS silver volunteer award, thanks to the amount of time she has spent supporting litigants-in-person.
The ELIPS (Employment Tribunal Litigants in Person Support) scheme is run by the Employment Lawyers Association to support claimants representing themselves at tribunal. Volunteers hold clinics offering one-off advice to claimants who have a hearing or a direction to follow within two weeks.
Andrea has been volunteering for the scheme since 2017 and has given 24 hours in total, supporting litigants in both Birmingham and Cardiff tribunals. As a passionate advocate for the scheme, she also inspired Ian to get involved.
Andrea says "I like to help those who cannot afford legal fees, as everybody should have access to the legal system. I provide practical advice and guidance on their claims to help simplify the process, which can be overwhelming. ELIPS also benefits me, providing the opportunity to practice my advocacy and work with a wide range of claimants."
One litigant-in-person recently sent feedback, which shows the impact of Andrea's support: "Thank you so much for steering me through the jungle of fear I've been tiptoeing through since January. Your advice and counsel was sound. Thank you for blessing me with your time, this means so much to me and I feel a lot more confident. Speaking to you brought so much clarity. I won my case and got a sizeable pay out. Thank you so much, your support really means a lot to me."
As a firm, we are always keen to give back when we can. We're very proud of Andrea's dedication and grateful to the ELA for the opportunity.
