Ian spoke to Care Home Management Magazine about issues the sector is likely to face, given that women make up 82% of the workforce.
These issues include:

Menopause, which has been at the root of successful claims for age, sex and disability discrimination
Pregnancy, which creates risks around health and safety and discrimination
Sexual harassment, with women more likely to be harassed at work than men
Caring obligations, with the tribunal accepting that responsibility more often falls on women
Unequal career progression - while making up 82% of the workforce, women make up 79% of management and 60% of senior management roles in care

Many employers face claims because policies, though applied fairly, have a disproportionate impact on workers with a certain protected characteristic. It's a good idea to seek advice to avoid indirect discrimination, or understand whether you have a proportionate, legitimate aim.

Ian spoke wrote about what employers - no matter the industry - should look out for and how to prepare.
