Ian recognised in Birmingham Awards shortlist

Ian was nominated for his success in building Spencer Shaw Solicitors to the firm you see today while maintaining his ethical approach to business. 

 

Ian has always been determined to be an exemplary employer and ensure great work-life balance for all of his team. Breaking away from the stereotype of the law industry, Ian ensures that nobody is under pressure to work longer than their set hours and that time off is never disturbed by work. Flexible working is discussed throughout the recruitment process and as a result, 7 out of 9 members of staff work flexibly in some way - be it part time, condensed hours or remotely. It also means our team are happy at work, which helps them to provide great service to our clients. By avoiding overworking or extreme pressure, our team are able to take time to give every client the support they need, when they need it.  

 

Ian's nomination also recognised his incredible dedication to fundraising for local charities. Spencer Shaw has supported Edward's Trust, a family bereavement charity since 2018. As well as making monthly donations to fund counselling sessions, Ian regularly takes on sponsored challenges. This includes cycling, sporting challenges and most recently trekking 100km to raise over £600.
